Once again, the City gathered along English Bay Beach for four different nights to enjoy a spectacular display of low explosive pyrotechnic glory. This year China, the USA and Canada participated in the competition. They were all extraordinary, however, the finale was my personal favorite.
In August of last year I left Portland with a "master plan" to relocate my life to Vancouver, BC. I am pleased to share that nine months later we have completed the final phase of our relocation efforts. That's right, Kylie Kia is now legal, licensed, and insured in Canada. It was a long and painful process, but we're finally done and it feels incredible.
This entry wouldn't be complete without a few THANK YOU's:
Unitus Community Credit Union Their lending department bent over backwards to to assist with the financial part ... including the preparation of a letter that had to be notarized and overnighted to US Customs at the very last minute. THANK YOU!
DePetris Insurance Agency These guys worked with us every single step of the way to provide special auto coverage, proof of insurance documents, as well as a "claims experience letter" - TWICE! They even did all of this knowing that we had to switch insurance companies.
Ron Tonkin Automotive Not only did they originally sell us Kylie, the service department played an important role passing our "out of country" inspection. In less than fifteen minutes they were able to provide a crucial document (ie the safety recall clearance letter) ... something Kia Motors America told me would take a week. You saved the day!
Collectively, you have renewed my faith in excellent customer service. Thank you!
Now for the fun stuff, check out Kylie's new bling:
You can imagine our surprise when we stumbled across this disturbing scene of a "plane crash" on Spanish Banks in Kitsilano:
It was crazy how REAL it all looked. I am going to take a wild guess that this is the set of the new movie "Passengers"( starring Anne Hathaway and Patrick Wilson) telling the story of a grief counselor who works with the survivor of a plane crash. Burrrrr - the 87th year of the Polar Bear Swim! More than 1,500 swimmers participated in Vancouver's famous New Year's Polar Bear Plunge today at 2:30pm. The event took place just a block away from our new apartment at Sunset Beach in English Bay.
